What are your intentions for the two different marks? And how are they harmonious?
The spot of color is nice, but I don't quite get the relationship between the "hand made mark" and the vector image. (They also seem "even" in power dynamics. More contrast?) If the two work better this might be the way to go. If not, then I would suggest sticking with the bottom idea.
I can't see the quality of the mark, but I would work hard to keep the integrity of the hand made mark, instead of creating a "create outlines" version of it.
