Dear Kathryn,

If you are interested in using actual photos, I might suggest that you take new photos. It feels like you might be limited by the photos you have so that your images and how they move on the page might be restricted.

Prof. Royal Hartigan is in charge of the instrument and I believe the access is easy. Email him and ask when the doors are open.

Also, if you do indeed take new photos, take 100 or more. I would try to take a bunch without the flash. Close ups as well from as far away as possible.

Overall, the "strips" of images and color are too similar in width and size to create rhythm, movement, or harmony. They feel still heavy (as if they were bricks.)

I acknowledge you are trying hard, but I would also look for inspiration from books that you really like.

If you are out to inspiring resources at the moment, please let me know Monday, and I will have to take a look at the books in my office (which you can borrow over spring break if you need.)
