Kathryn, I would look into the art of persuasion: authority, logic, and emotion. These are the three starting places of how we can persuade people. 1. authority: A person of authority telling you something. The person of authority has to have true authority. Surgeon generals warning? the Ten Commandments? If you speed, you will get a traffic ticket from the police (if you get caught?). There are various types of authority. Think about that your resources could be. 2. logic. 1+1=2. This will work on people who are "more logical" but if the logic skips too many steps or is too obvious (if you eat too much you will get fat) you will lose your audiences' attention. 3. emotion: this is the one where you evoke a strong emotional response be it sadness, anger, fear, etc. People who are a bit more cynical or "logical" might not go for it, but it can be very successful in getting a lot of people's attention at once. (Trying to use kids to help stop their parents from smoking is one example.) Look at various "successful" strategies that have worked in the past and see what they did. Find a pattern of success. and then see if it will fit your project!
